This information is provided by Provet for educational purposes only. You should seek the advice of your veterinarian if your pet is ill as only he or she can correctly advise on the diagnosis and recommend the treatment that is most appropriate for your pet. The scientific
evidence to support the administration of nutritional supplements to pets is
often very weak. Best evidence are
randomised controlled trials (RCTs) Polydextrose (n=1
non-RCT) Addition of polydextrose fibre at a rate of 3% to a dry
ration for dogs with OA produced statistically significant improvements in
clinical scores for OA associated stiffness, lameness and joint swelling (Beynen
2011) (n=19) and evaluation was made by owner questionnaires. Evidence : WEAK
